This is not the prettiest-looking slice of pie in the universe.  It is not neat.  It is not symmetrical.  But it is delicious.  This is a real pie filling, in a real pastry shell, and when you eat it you are eating a real pie. blueberry pie slice

Let me put it this way how happy I am with this recipe:  I came up with this probably five or six hours ago, and I’m drinking my fourth cup right now.  This is just what I needed to warm up as the weather gets colder.  I am so happy.  Have some cocoa.  It’s on me.  :-) hot cocoa

So it looks like this is my fourth tortilla post on this blog, and my second paleo version.  :-)  Forgive me for not having a picture to put up — I was gonna, but life got crazy a couple days ago (long boring story I’ll spare you), so that didn’t happen and isn’t about to — but hey, you know what a tortilla looks like, basically.  These tortillas look like that.  :-D

A few weeks ago, my sister and I were browsing recipe sites, looking for ideas for a snack to make, when I ran across cream of mushroom soup.  Boy did that bring back memories — and cravings! — so I’ve made a version we can have.  :-) cream of mushroom soup

This bread is good.  It’s always a relief to break past that quiet but obnoxious barrier between “good, all things considering” and “good” outright.  It’s like the best qualities of the banana bread and zucchini bread we used to have, and you don’t really notice it has no sugar, no grains, no dairy. banana bread slices

I love those days that you walk into a kitchen with a thought in your head — in this case, “God, I’d really love some brownies right about now,” and you think on it for a minute, then you give it a shot.  Then the batter looks good, and the brownies look good, and then they even taste good, which, really, is all anybody can ever ask for out of a sleepy evening with some chocolate cravings.  :-) topped brownie

This ice cream is more rich than sweet (though it is still sweet!); it’s good with just peanut butter, but even better when you add the chocolate, too.  This is the first time I’ve used locust bean gum in homemade ice cream — the recipe works fine without it, but it freezes and softens more quickly and more smoothly with it, so it’s definitely worth adding if you keep the stuff around.

Finally I have a decent cooked dessert that’s grain- and sugar-free.  It was a bit of a leap of faith for both parts of this recipe, donuts and glaze, but it’s paid off.  The donuts are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is all I’m asking for really, and the glaze is fantastic. donuts

A delicious banana cake for any occasion, though it featured at a third birthday party at my house :-). Banana Cake Served Up

It may not look like much, but a little goes a long way.  :-) mini icebox pie
